Thank you for being part of the Passage Closed Beta and helping us test the platform during this phase of development! Below, you’ll find some helpful information and answers to frequently asked questions.
Please also join us in the dedicated Passage Elite Discord server where you can share feature requests, feedback, and chat with the team and other users.
How do I join Closed Beta?
If you have not already applied or received an invitation to join, you can apply here. There are limited spots available, and we will reach out directly to accepted users.
What worlds do I have access to?
Currently, all users have access to 5 maps. Over time, more template worlds will be added to this list.
Can I use my own map or create a custom world?
Yes! If you have your own Unreal Engine environment you’d like to use in Passage, please reach out to the team. Priority access to map processing and uploading is being given to Enterprise level subscribers. Currently, we can support version 5.3 and 5.4.
If you don’t have an existing environment but would like something more custom, our creative team is available to assist. Please contact the team to discuss further.
I’m experiencing a bug. What should I do?
If there is an urgent, game-breaking bug, please post in Discord and tag a Passage team member. We cannot guarantee immediate availability to troubleshoot ongoing events but will always see what is doable at the time.
For ALL bugs, please report them using the "Send Feedback" link in the top right menu of the Passage Dashboard. The form is also available and linked on Discord.
What’s the difference between an “Instant” and “Scheduled” event?
“Instant” events are scheduled in real-time and request that the platform prepare your event for as soon as possible. Depending on the selected map, you can generally expect a 5-10 minute boot time for the event to be ready.
Scheduled events are set up in advance. As long as you schedule your event more than 15 minutes in advance, it will be ready at the specified time. This means you do not need to allow for the boot times described above.
What are Passage Points?
Passage Points are used to pay for the pixel streaming servers that allow events to be run in the browser.
One point equates to approximately ~1 minute of time that a user spends in your event. This amount changes depending on the GPU provider selected for your event (e.g., AWS or Akash).
Points can be purchased as-you-go, or via discounted monthly subscriptions. More details can be found on the "Purchase Points" page in the Dashboard.
What are the monthly subscription tiers?
Monthly subscriptions allow you to pre-pay for discounted streaming points. All unused points are rolled over.
How many attendees can I invite?
Currently, events are capped at 40 attendees for Closed Beta testing.
Attendee caps will eventually be built into monthly subscriptions, but we are currently leaving this open for Closed Beta users.
My points say “Undefined,” what happened?
This is a timeout issue on the platform. In the top right menu, click your account name under “Account” so the checkmark shows up. This should resolve the issue.
I can't access my account.
If you’re having trouble accessing your account, try resetting your password. If the issue persists, tag a Passage team member in Discord and we will look into it as soon as possible.
I had an issue with my event. Can I get my points refunded?
Because Passage Points are spent on servers and go directly to compute providers, we are unfortunately not able to offer refunds on spent points. As we are in a Closed Beta phase, we would urge you to extensively test the platform to ensure that its current state suits your needs prior to running important events.
What are the different hosting options?
We currently offer two hosting options: Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Akash Network, the leading decentralized cloud compute marketplace.
There is a 25% discount on points for events hosted on Akash.
You can select your hosting preference on an event-by-event basis under the “Advanced” settings at the bottom of the event creation page.
Can I host an event that is available 24/7?
Currently, the maximum scheduling time allowed in the dashboard is 4 hours and 45 minutes. If you require an event longer than this, please let us know so we can update this limitation.
24/7 events are technically possible, however can be prohibitively expensive depending on the number of attendees you want to allow in. If you have a use case for a 24/7 event, we encourage you to reach out to the team to discuss more custom solutions.
What is NFT Gating?
NFT Gating allows you to restrict access to your event to specific token holders. Currently, this feature is limited to the following collections: Strange Clan Eggs, Metahuahua, Strange Clan Kira, and Strange Clan Deran Fang.
If you’d like to launch your own collection, please contact the team.
What’s on the roadmap?
Throughout Closed Beta, we’ll be launching various features, improvements, and key integrations with the Passage blockchain and marketplace including:
If there is a feature you’d like to see prioritized, please drop us a note on Discord!
